Booking Through Thursday

Booking Through Thursday: A weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading.

Q:  Do you carry books with you when you're out and about in the world?
And, do you ever try to hide the cover?

I carry a book in my purse almost every day!
Which is why:
1: the strap on my purse is about to break
2: why I should invest in an e-reader

Sometimes I feel like I should hide the cover! Esp when I'm reading YA.
I think: "I'm a grown ass woman reading these teen books" ...
BUT then I get over that thought and get into my book.
YA is so good these days!
There's no reason for me (or anyone) to be embarrassed.

What about you? Do you carry a book with you?
Do you hide the covers?

  1. I gotta take a book everywhere! It pays to be prepared for any waiting anywhere!!

Here is my BTT: In Public post!

  2. Books can kill a handbag. E-readers are great, but I am still carrying both. Thanks for stopping by. Everything I Carry With Me

  3. Never hide! But I know what you mean about the condition of your bag. My briefcases die horrible deaths way before their time from carrying around my reading matter.

  4. Trish, do you ever read the website ForeverYoungAdult? Their critiques of YA covers, and how embarrassing they can be for grownup readers are hilarious!
also e-reader: yes! I just got a Kindle and loooove it!

    Here's my BTT answer

  5. I've broken a few straps on my bags over time, and an e-reader would be goood, but I love the feel of a book.

    Here's mine

  6. Only when traveling.

    here's mine:

  7. I so agree with the grown woman thing reading these books lol. So, that is why I love my e-reader!

    My BTT

  8. I have gone through many purses myself. I feel your pain. Check out my full answer for this week's Booking Through Thursday.

  9. I usually carry books if I know I'll have the time. They might get stuffed into the diaper bag. I've never hidden any covers. It will be more convenient when I get my Nook too.

  10. Books don't only kill a handbag but that shoulder so rotate. (hubby advice) lol, YA books, yep, you are right, I was with my teen nieces taking them on the metra train to our downtown area. This woman that I know is an avid reader was reading. The first thing they said as we got off and was walking was, 'auntie, you need to give that woman some of your books, did you see her reading those books me or my sisters read, heheheheheh. i politely told them , 'i read those sometimes, they politely said, 'but you review books, blog and all that'. so i then replied. first, you guys don't know, she may be doing that too. and secondly, i read for enjoyment too not just for my blog'or reviewing.(rolling my eyes) lol. they replied, dag you readers stick together, okaaayy, and we all high five and started laughing.

  11. Book blogging opened me up to reading YA books! I do still feel kind of weird reading them sometimes though!
