Oh, How Pinteresting & What I'm Loving Wednesday

It's Wednesday!!

I'm LOVING that Christmas is Sunday!! I'm SUPER excited to give my mom and my beau their gifts! I hope they like them as much as I do!

I'm LOVING the Christmas Socks I made as mini gifts {see 'em here}. I think they are just too cute and I actually want to keep them all for myself.

I'm LOVING the Christmas present I bought for myself -- iPhone 4S. YAY!

I'm LOVING that I get to give my Mentee a Christmas present today -- he's in 3rd grade and is one of the nicest kids I've ever met. I got him some small stuff like games, candies, a little football and small pocket books. Hopefully he likes it -- I'm sure the candies will be a huge hit.

and as always
I'm LOVING pinterest!

Little Christmas Socks {crochet}

So, as you probably remember I was debating on what to make as a small gift for my co-workers for Christmas. I was thinking of making wine covers but couldn't find a pattern I liked.
Then I thought I'd make ornaments (like take an ornament ball and make a crochet cover for it) I bought the balls but that's as far as I got with that,
then I thought I'd make little ornaments myself -- I made one and never made another.
THEN one day {Nov 16th to be exact} ... I get an emailed post from a blogger named Angie from Le Monde de Sucrette   and she had the most amazing Little Christmas Socks pattern that I INSTANTLY printed and started crocheting away -- and here's my version:

These things are so damn cute! I want to keep all of them myself!

I'm going to stuff them with little knick-knacks and hand them out either this week or next. I'll let you know how it goes!

What do you think? Am I the only one who loves these?

Pillows - YAY - Pillows {4}

I did it!
I finished my second blooming flower cushion in time to be mailed to STL for Christmas!
I'm soooo excited because I was just a tad bit stressed I wouldn't finish in time.

Here it is:

That one is going to be for C.

Here are both together:

The one with the yellow center is for M.

I used the same colors for both girls but I just changed the patterns of colors so they'll be able to tell them apart.

Cushions: packed, wrapped and shipped!
Hopefully the girls like them!

Cute-ish gifts for a 7 & 10 year old girls right?
What do you think?

LOVING that I'm finally going to get a massage! I've been saying for YEARS I need to treat myself to a massage so I'm thrilled that the other day's livingsocial finally pushed me to get one.

I'm LOVING that moment when you check your email and I see "50% off everything" at NY & Co! My type of sale!

I'm LOVING that all my gifts have been ordered, shipped and/or wrapped and under the tree already.

I'm LOVING that I have off on Friday so I can take care of all my errands and random sh&* that needs to get done before the holiday.

I'm LOVING that I have been welcomed to the 2000s at work -- I got a flat screen monitor and I'm SOOOO excited. For the past 5 years I've been working on a monitor that I swear was the prototype of all monitors.

and as always:
I'm LOVING Pinterest!

I need to make one (or a couple) of these

Virtual Coffee

Heeeeyyyyy Boo!
Ready to meet up for some coffee?
I know I am -- and have been since 6am this morning.
My mouth is watering for a Creme Brulee Latte from Starbucks.
So delicious.

So much to say - so little time. I doubt I'll get to everything and I tend to be a rambler some days anyway -- you know go on and on and on and realize halfway thru my story that ... my story doesn't have a point. Or if it did have a point I've forgotten what is was. Has that ever happened to you?

If we were really meeting for coffee:
I'd tell you that yesterday I went to 7-11 to get gas and pick up some snacks for me and my beau for movie night. When I was in line I saw a guy who was dressed in his army/military clothes/uniform or whatever you call it. And I instantly thought of the video that I saw when I went to church with my dad in STL (yes people - I - PATRICIA - went to church. SHOCKER - I know). Anyhoo the video was all about people surprising other people with doing things like buying their groceries, or paying for their coffee or buying gas for someone and I thought that was a nice message. SO, I paid for the guy's items. Felt it was a nice way to say "thank you" for serving our country and for fighting for my freedom.

If we were really meeting for coffee:
Last Friday, when I woke up I was all in a panic because I hadn't realized we were just two weeks away from Christmas. Mentally I had all the gifts I wanted to give plotted out -- but had none of them purchased. So I went ahead and purchased pretty much everything online. YESTERDAY - I get an email saying that my order has been cancelled. WTF? Now it's like I have to start over again. Blah.

If we were really meeting for coffee:
I've been thinking a lot about my 2012 resolutions -- I really need to sit down and decide what I will REALLY accomplish and what just "sounds nice" but I won't really do. Maybe I'll do that next week. I went to a meeting last week that talked about Purpose & Passion -- and I couldn't come up with anything that I was really passionate about and I have no idea what my purpose is. That's something I really wont to figure out.

If we were really meeting for coffee:
I'll tell you that I've given myself until Friday, AM to finish up my Blooming Flower Cushion for my little sisters. I made one awhile ago for my 10 year old sister and I just started this second one for my 7 year old sister, last week. I want to finish and get it all mailed to STL on Friday morning. I'm NEVER on time with mailing my gifts to the girls. I want this year to be the first. I also got them some jammies, and THE cutest sweat pants (that I wish were my size so I could wear them) and a kit (each) to make their own jewelry.

If we were really meeting for coffee:
I'd start to feel guilty about around this point in time because I have gone on and on about myself and haven't given you a chance to say anything!
What's up with you?
If we were really meeting for coffee what would you tell me?
I'm all ears {eyes} now!

Q: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your friends and family?

Hmmm....I would give everyone a copy of:

It's a life changer.
JK... Kinda.
It's a very cute story and a GREAT gift for people who are going through a new phase/chapter in life.

You can get the Pop-Up version for the friends and family you REALLY love.

I received my copy when I graduated (I can't remember if I got it when I graduated high school or when I graduated college).  It's something I treasure.

Q: Book to Movie: Which book turn movie do you feel did the best adaptation? What about the worst?

Well -- the book is ALWAYS better than the movie.
So I'm only going to focus on two of the WORST book to movie adaptations:

The Other Boleyn Girl.

I LOVEDDDDDDD the book. Amazingly interesting and just plain good.

The movie == CRAP.

I demand a remake! The movie does not do the book ANY justice.

Water for Elephants.

Another book I adored. When I finished the book I wanted more.

When I finished the movie I wanted to scratch my eyes out.

They changed too much from the book to the movie AND I did not enjoy any of it!

What book to movie adaptation do you think is THE worse?
Is it more horrible than the two I picked?
Tell me -- which book would you gift to your friends and family?
Christmas is just 2 weeks away -- so maybe I'll steal borrow your idea.

Let me know!

REVIEW ::: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Let me tell you UPFRONT -- Me like this one!!!

When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the "milk sickness." Only later did he learn that his mother's deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect on Abe's father's unfortunate debts.

When the truth became known to the young Abraham Lincoln, he wrote in his journal: henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become learned in all things—a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose."

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for reuniting the North with the South and abolishing slavery from our country, no one has ever understood his valiant fight for what it really was. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time—all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War, and uncovering the massive role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. {via}

I liked this book. From PAGE 1 I was pulled into it. I LOVE the writing style of the book, I love the idea behind the book, I love how everything is pulled together. I just really really liked this book -- can you tell?!

I didn't/don't know too much about Abraham Lincoln and his childhood. I knew the basic stuff about him but this book gave me a different perspective of his life and I'll probably always think of this book from now on anytime I hear of anything related to Abraham Lincoln.

The author very cleverly incorporated history with vampire hunting and it was so interesting. The vampires existence throughout Abraham's childhood and adult life explain soooo much and now gives his speeches a new meaning (a secret hidden message BEHIND Abe's great speeches).

I don't want to give to much away but this was an exciting way for me to learn a little about Abraham Lincoln. I recommend you read this one if you haven't already.

I give this:

I would've given this 5 stars BUT I did get a little bored towards the end of the book during the war time talk.  I could've done without that.

Anyhoo. Go read it!
OR did you already read this book? Did you like it?
Tell me! Tell me!

Oh, How Pinteresting & What I'm LOVING Wednesday!!!

Let's Link-up:

I'm LOVING all the crafty Christmas ideas on pinterest! SO many ideas. SO little time.

I'm LOVING that some of our Christmas decorations have been been put out. Our tree is up (but without ornaments), we have some holiday bears out AND the house smells like cinnamon. ah. Christmas.

I'm LOVING this idea:
Christmas Card/Birthday Card books - make one each year and display each season

I'm LOVING that my right rear blinker is mysteriously and magically working again -- after not working for a year+. So I guess my wild, quick right turns are no longer necessary...Now if only my ABS and BRAKE light mysteriously and magically turns off...

I'm LOVING  when I'm blog hopping and people have these nice, large, clear as a sunny day photos on their post. Makes me want to go out and get a fancy camera so I can be a copy cat.

I'm LOVING a good laugh. I had a couple last week and on Monday my Beau was cracking me up but I need more laughter in my life.  Going to bust out my Will & Grace dvds and funny shows/movies.

and always I'm  LOVING  Pinterest!

shoot ... 9:20am Really..Truthfully

LOVE THIS! Want to do this!

Every Single Time!

Idea I have to store away mentally until I have kids.

Virtual Coffee

 What Up Buttercups?

Ready to have some virtual coffee with me?
Go ahead, Grab a chair, Grab your Cup and let's enjoy a couple sips together.

This is the time of year that I could happily enjoy a peppermint mocha every day of the week (except NOT the ones from Mcdonald's ... those there are gross! Consider yourself warned).

If we were really meeting up for coffee this morning ...
I'd ask you who sings the song that goes like this "Last Christmas I give you my heart, and the very next day you tore it apart..."?!?! (more than likely I'd be singing it off key and doing a little jig AND I probably have the words wrong but...ohwell). It's been stuck in my head for the past 4 days. I think I need to download it and listen to it over and over again until I can't stand it!  So ... Do you know?!

If we were really meeting up for coffee this morning ...
I've got to admit that I'm a little stressed out about Chirstmas {in terms of presents} in my mind I know what I want to get my mom and my beau and my sisters. I'm just worried that
1. They wont like their gifts (when I do go get them) and/or
2. I've under budgeted.
I'm also worried that I wont finish all my handmade gifts in time either.

If we were really meeting up for coffee this morning ...
I gotta complain that I'm not feeling like I'm looking too professional today -- which I'm trying this whole "dress for the job I want, not the job I have" thing but I'm feeling lazy. I think I should've put on something nice - esp since I have a client appointment today. Gotta dress to impress and today ... I'm not even impressed with myself!

If we were really meeting up for coffee this morning ...
Even though I just had a vacation - I need another one! I'm so tired! I want to relax and maybe get a massage and watch Maury all day. And maybe do some reading and a little crochet. But I do need some time to relax, and unwind.

If we were really meeting up for coffee this morning ...
I'd tell you - THANK YOU for meeting up with me but I gotta go after our brief chat because -- I'm not feeling toooo chatty today. I've finished my coffee and now I'm ready to go! (if you know me I have my days that I really don't FEEL like talking -- and you wont be offended ... at least I hope not. I've always been this way).

I hope you have a lovely day!

Musing Mondays

This week's musing asks ...
How many books do you read in a week? Month? Year?

Okay. Don't judge me but...I only ready about one book a month.
Oh, I'm so ashamed to admit that! I wish I could read 2-3 books a month. I just don't have the time -- especially with the holiday gifts I'm making AND all the good television that's on now.
I usually read a lot more in the summer - when I'm laying poolside for hours - I can get in a couple books a month that way.
How many books do you read in a week? Month? Year?
I'm betting way more than I do!
