HAPPY HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Hello Friends!

Do you have your costume and your pillow cases ready to go for some Trick-or-Treating tonight?
Yea .. me either.
I'm still debating if I want to go buy some candy to give out to the ghosts and goblins that may knock on my door tonight.
BUT
Truth be told: I'm terrified of the kids in my neighborhood on a regular Monday night. Don't need them knocking on my door threatening me with tricks if I don't give them any candy!
MAYBE
I'll go buy some candy after work today.
We'll see what happens! If there's no new post from me on Tuesday that means I'm probably tied up and being tourtured somewhere for a reeses peanut butter cup!

Anyhoo -
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Feel free to send me some candy - Snickers, Smarties, Skittles anything except those nasty ass Mary Jane Candies :)

What are your plans for tonight?
Are you getting all dressed up?
Are you giving out candy?

Hello!
Ready for Friday's Memes?
Ok. Me too!

Q: If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

hmmm...this is hard to say for me. I don't have ONE favorite go to character that I can refer to. I'd much rather meet with the author  of the character than the character.

Q: What is your favorite Halloween costume? Even if you don't celebrate, what kind of costumes do you like?

Remember in elementary school when they allowed you to dress up in your costume and parade around the school parking lot? I do and I remember one year I was a bride - Nice white little dress. Then the following year I was a Dead Bride. Same white dress just dirtied up. LOL. I was a way creative child with quite an imagination.

Q: Spooktacular Reads: Which books do you consider festive Halloween reads? Which stories have chilled you to the bone?

Um. Hello. My Name is Patricia and I'm a CHICKEN!
I don't watch scary movies, I don't read horror books -- I do NOT enjoy that feeling of being scared.
NOT-AT-ALL.  That being said ... I have not read any festive halloween books. I do not want to be chilled to my bones. I'd prefer to feel warm and fuzzy :).

What about you? What was/is your favorite costume?
And have you read any stories that chilled you to the bone?

Musing Mondays ::: Audio Books

This week's musing asks ...

Do you listen to audiobooks? Why, or why not?

I have to admit that in the past - I have listened to audiobooks. I use to like to get them from the library and load them up on my ipod and sit and listen to them while I was driving or while I crochet and/or while I played Tetris (YES..I sat in front of the television with headphones on playing tetis on a game console. LOL).

I have listened to Harry Potter - books 6 & 7 on audiobook -- which means ... technically - I didn't READ the Harry Potter books. I'm ashamed to admit that -- kinda.

I also audiobooked Wicked by Gregory Maguire.  I REALLY wanted to read it. I bought the book, tried to read it numerous times but I just couldn't get into it. So I tried the audiobook version -- but I couldn't get into that either.

I do have a couple other audiobooks on my ipod that I have available whenever I feel the need. But it's been a couple years since I had the desire to listen to one. My Grandmother listens to audiobooks in the kitchen when she's cooking and/or sitting there clipping coupons and stuff -- that'll probably be me one day. I can see it in my crystal ball...I don't know how I feel about that yet.

I AM embarrassed to admit that I have listened to audiobooks though. I don't know why.
Maybe because I feel like it's kind of a cheat. Can you say you "read" a book ... if you technically listened to them?

Should I feel embarrassed about that?!

Blooming Flower Cushion

Hello Hello!

I must say - having this blog has helped me get (and keep) my creative juices flowing. I've been working and completing sooo many project since I started this blog.

I get excited knowing that I can make something and then show it off here (and it really helps my ego when you leave me comments telling me how fantastic my project is :)).

I just slipped stitched my way to a finished Blooming Flower Cushion/Pillow.
Are you ready to see it?
OMG - I'm so excited to show you (I'm bouncing up & down in my seat -- like a kid about to get candy).

Let me introduce you to my ...
BLOOMING FLOWER CUSHION

Now, I have to give credit - when credit is due.
I followed Lucy's LOVELY and VERY EASY to follow tutorial which you can find HERE.

Lucy's blog is a-ma-zing. She makes so many great things. Everything she makes...I kindasortamaybe want to copy and make too.

Here's how MY baby grew:

I then repeated the 6 colors 3 time each until I had 30 petals.

Then I made a back for the cushion:

Back & Front side by side:

Then I stuffed it:

 and:
TAH-DAH!!!!!

My very own Blooming Flower Cushion:

 What do you think?!

It was really easy to make! Head over to Lucy's blog, print the tutorial (but keep in mind it's in UK crochet terms) and get hooking!

Q: What Superhero is your alter-ego?
um...er...I'd say STORM from X-men. And for the obvious reason - she's got a banging body and an awesome custome! ok... there a couple other reasons - like the weather manipulation is really cool. She's married to Black Pather (who's a King), she gets the be the leader of the X-men sometimes ANND Halle Barry plays her in movies. What more could you ask for?

Q: Book Blogs that make you smile: Pick 5 book blogs you visit often & you think others should, too.

Ohh..I like this! In no particular order:

#1 Reason - because I won her journal giveaway :). LOL. Seriously, I like her blog becaause we share a lot of similar book interest and opinions on books. She's a go-to spot for me when I'm trying to decide what to read next.

For some reason I can't pull up Sidne's blog today - but she's one of the first book blogs I started following when I started my own blog.

Vicky's blog is so damn cute! I just love the look and feel of it. I totally want to bite the style of her blog and apply it to my own :)

This is another blog that is very appealing to me and I enjoy her rating system - very easy for me to scroll down and see if she rates a book -- my personal favorites "MEH" and "YUK". LOL.

There's something about Melissa's blog I really enjoy. I can't put my finger on it but go check it out!

Q: What is your favorite type of candy?

OMG. Asking me this question is like asking an alcoholic what kind of liquor they like - IT DOESN'T MATTER - I LIKE IT ALL! And I cannot get enough. I have bought the Dentist 17 cars by now AND a new custom built home. I LOVE CANDY. Sweets, Sugars, Desserts - you name it. I'll eat it.  I love chocolate, candy bars, jelly beans, peeps, pez, skittles, gummy bears, sour patch kids, starburst, jolly ranchers - any and everything! My desk drawer is filled with coins so I can hit the vending machine for treats every afternoon!

How about you? What are you favorite book blogs AND what's your favorite candy?
Tell me!

Booking Through Thursday - Vacation

Booking Through Thursday: A weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading.

Do your reading habits change when you're on vacation?
Do you read more?
Do you indulge in lighter, fluffier book than you usually read?
Do you save up special books so you'll be able to spend real vacation time with them? Or do you just read the same old stuff, vacation or not?

Vacation? What's that? That word/concept is just so unfamiliar to me.
JK. But I haven't had a vacation in a loooooong while.
But, when I do vacation my reading habits do change -- I read more.
Books on vacation are a must! My packing essentials: underwear, toothbrush, deodorant and books.
I almost always forget to pack pajamas .... but I always remember to pack books.

I usually just read whatever is in my TBR pile. Most of the books I read are light and fluffy so it doesn't take much mental power and I can really enjoy them while I'm relaxing.

If I had a chance to go on vacation ... here are a couple ideal places I'd like to be reading a book on vacation riiiiiiiight now:
