Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

I'm a pret-ty moody person.
I'll admit it.
UP and DOWN. Like a RollerCoaster.
I TO-TA-LLY blame it on my sign - the TWINS - Gemini.
Damn you twins!

My reading habits do not changed based on my mood - if they did I would never get any reading done.

Reading actually helps improve my mood if I'm depressed AND/OR if I'm happy.
I hardly ever read anything heavy/sad anyway so it doesn't bring me down if I'm already feeling down.
I choose to read mostly fun & happy books.

How 'bout you? Do your reading habits change with your moods?!

  1. Exactly! I don't enjoy reading any books that are depressing or sad. I don't read to feel that way.

  6. Hopping through. I'm a Libra. Not sure if we're supposed to be moody or not. Actually, my birthday is on the first or second day of Libra, so that means I have some Virgo qualities too. Not that I know what they are :-)

  8. I'm not big on the super heavy reads either, big fan of using reading as escapism. Totally agree with you there.

  11. I too mostly read fun or happy books! I find that sad books keep me sad well after I've read it. I really don't enjoy being sad and can say I have yet to grasp that a sad book is not reality :/ I even don't enjoy dark books that much because they make me think that it's too close to reality and the things that happen could happen in real life :/

I find when I'm sad I do less reading, and when I'm happy I read faster!

  14. If I'm in a good mood, I don't mind reading a sad story - it doesn't bring me down. I'm a Virgo and I have no idea what that says about my personality. ;) I'm a pretty happy person most of the time - the hubby and kids say I'm silly (and I so am), but I have a short fuse unfortunately. I know I can control that better than I do, because it takes a lot for my kids to get under my skin - other folks, not so much. :/

Great question this week - I'm really enjoying finding out how different and similar we all are.

Thanks for visiting my FF! Old follower. :)

  16. I love reading, it makes me feel better too! I haven't read anything in what seems like forever. I joined a book club though and should start reading this weekend, yay! I don't think my moods affect what or how often I read though. I'm just too busy to commit and haven't found anything I love to read lately :/

  20. Hello! Stopping by from the hop!
HA! I'm a fellow Gemini so I totally get it about the moody, rollercoaster thing!

And I'm with you, no my mood does not dictate what I read but it can change my mood.

  21. My reading habits do change, but not a great deal. Sometimes I want something dark if I'm in that sort of mood, or something to make me laugh if I'm feeling down.

  22. My reading habits don't change. I just change what type of genres I want to read based on my mood. Either way, I'm always getting some reading done whether I'm mad, sad, happy, etc. Lol.

Thank you for stopping by my FF :0)
