{Audio} Book Review: The Talented Mr. Ripley

Have I told you that I'm REALLY enjoying my Audible subscription?
I finished another book:

Thoughts on story:
For the first half of the book as I was listening I was wonder ... Does anything HAPPEN in this book?
 I would go online multiple times and read the summary like "what's this book about?" {I got it because it was so cheap on audible and I needed SOMETHING to "read"}
 THEN something happens. And the suspense kicks and Oh. Mr. Ripley. Oh he gave me anxiety! He's such an interesting/intense character with an overactive imagination that the author gets you, pulls you in and you end up feeling the same anxiety that Mr. Ripley feels in each situations. I wouldn't say he's a "likeable" character but he's definitely an interesting fella. Someone I'd be TERRIFIED to know in real life.

Thoughts on the performance:
So the first second I hit "play" my thought was "oh no!" the narrator's voice is deep, smooth and calming. I was afraid I was going to fall asleep listening to this book. But. I didn't. Thanks to the author's style of writing. And the narrator's voice is EXACTLY what I would picture for Tom Ripley. I don't know if I could listen to another book with this narrator but he was good for this story/character.
Overall:
I give this story 3 out of 5 stars. I LIKED it but not enough to read the second or third book in the series. I'm not really into "suspense" books but if you like those types of books then consider picking this one up.
I'm going to put this on my Netflix queue ASAP. I imagine it made a pretty good movie!
Have you seen the movie or read the book?

  1. I love Audible too! I haven't read this or watched the movie, people keep recommending it to me but I sometimes find stories like this irritate me, lol. I already have my favourite narrator's now.

  2. I did see the movie and I remember liking it. I haven't ever listened to audible books before... when do you normally do it? I guess the car or running would be a good idea?
