30 Things: #15 If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

30 Things: #15: If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
So, I've been procrastinating answering this question because it seems silly to me.
BUUUT then I found this great article on BuzzFeed that gave me my answer...and the results are:

Independent and logical thinkers who are also persuasive leaders, ENTJs are business-minded and ambitious. They refuse to allow any subjective emotion to enter into their decision-making process, and as a result they can be seen as callous and cold. But these fierce individuals tend to be highly effective, successful, and incredibly powerful. They are truly the kings of the proverbial jungle.
This sounds exactly like me - don't you think?
You HAVE to do this to figure out what you are. I found it very interesting (and accurate...at least for me) that I am ENTJ (Extroversion, Intuition, Thinking, Judging). Go HERE and find out what you are and then share with me!!

Follow Friday

TGIF! It's been a really long time since I've done a follow Friday - so it's time for me to jump back on the bandwagon!
This week's question:
What is your favorite tv series that you can watch over and over again on Netflix?
Sex and the City. Hands down. I can watch over and over and over again, and I don't need Netflix because I own every episode on dvd AND the first movie (but not the second movie because that was trash).
I can always make a S&TC reference in any real life situation!
I still to this day LOVE Mr. Big.
I rooted from him from the very beginning and I still root for him.
AND my favorite line is "I SEE YOU CARRIE!!!" <--anyone know what episode that's from?!?!
Oh! Oh! and "I don't want to be the up the butt girl!"
What's your favorite tv series you can watch over and over again?

30 Things: #14 - Describe 5 strengths you have.

30 Things:
#14 Describe 5 strengths you have.
Once I make up my mind - my decision is solid. I don't waver back and forth and I don't get influenced by other people's opinion (this too can be a weakness, but I choose to look at it in a positive light).
I have always had a strong sense of self and I work really hard at staying true to myself.
My Friendships/Relationships - I'm strength for my friends and they are strength for me through good times and bad.
I'm a mean hooker.
I keep moving forward - no matter how much I want to give up. I'm persistent (maybe that's why I'm in sales)
What's one of your strengths?

Teaser Tuesday ::: What She Left Behind

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.

Izzy wondered what horrors the hulking building had witnessed.  What dreadful memories had attached themselves to the bricks and mortar and clouded glass, forever part of the structure, mortared and sealed with blood and tears?
What do you think? Would you keep reading?

Moody Monday

Ugh. Monday already?!
I hope you had a good weekend! I spent a lot of time working on my crochet mood blanket.

Thanks to the feedback I got last week (on this post if I should unravel the 15 blocks I put in the wrong order or leave it) I decided to ... unravel.

I know-I know it was a lot of work but in the end it'll be worth it. Each block represents a day and to be have a true representation of the year I had to correct my mistake.

I also spent MANY hours weaving in the tails. 199 blocks means a lot if tails. I got about 80% of them done but have more to go.

I love this project! I have so many ideas for my 2015 blanket!

30 Things: #13 Describe 5 weaknesses you have.

13. Describe 5 weaknesses you have.
#1 - Guilt Trips
I'd hate to tell this secret on myself but I always fall for a guilt trip. I can't stand that feeling eating me up inside and if someone calls me out on that guilt I'm liable to do whatever they ask. I hate that about myself. I always take the guilt trip when someone pulls that card on me.
#2 - Craft Stores/Yarn Sales.
Since I'm driving around all the time for work craft shops always catch my eye - particularly ones that aren't in my normal shopping areas. I could have my last $5 in my pocket and would want to spend it on yarn.
#3 - Speaking Before Thinking
I swear the words fly out of my mouth sometimes before they process through my brain and I end up saying some really off the wall stuff. Especially when I'm mad. I need to calm down, take a deep breath, count to 10 and give the words enough time to process through my head before I say stuff I have to apologize for later. This is an ongoing problem for me (it also works in my favor and makes me seem really witty when I'm in good spirit - guess it works both ways).
#4 - Cupcakes/Cake/Sugar
I was counting calories for a hot minute...then birthday season came around and I couldn't control myself. I actually want a cupcake right now. My favorite as of late has been Chocolate Ganache from Lilly Magilly's and Lemon. I LOVE Lemon cupcakes. Drool.
I do have to be careful though since diabetes runs in my family.
#5 - Drowning in Bad Mood/Bad Feelings
I let my bad moods take over my whole day. If one thing bad goes wrong I have the tendency to want to go hide under the cover in bed and go to sleep (as like a reset). I need to really work on not letting one incident ruin my whole day. I literally have to tell myself to smile when I'm about to fall of the deep edge. Smiling is suppose to help you feel better...I read that somewhere.
What's one of your weakness?

Aaarrggh! Crochet #&$!

So, for the past two days I've been working on my crochet mood blanket. Happily crocheting and joining block after block. Then. Last night as I was folding up my blanket and putting my hook and skeins away I realized I placed about 15 blocks in the wrong order!

What do I do?! Undo the 15 blocks and put them in the correct order (remember: each block represents a mood for each day of the year)? OR do I just leave them, finish the row and know that nobody will know (or care) they are in the wrong

What to do? What to do?!

What do you think I should do? What would you do?

WIP WEDNESDAY: Hexagon Blanket

I'm still plugging away at my Crochet Mood Blanket. Yes-I have fallen behind ...again... but the main reason is because my attention has been on my Purples Hexagon Blanket:

Instead of making all the hexagons THEN joining them I've decided to do it in batches. I make 50+ hexies then join them with my silver yarn.

Probably would've been easier to just to do the join -as-you-go method, but I think I really like the silver pulling them all together. What do you think?

I'm going to hate myself when it's time to take care of all these tails!

Virtual Coffee

It's been awhile since we've had virtual coffee -- how about we do one today?
I'll be having Green Tea - because Dr. Oz says it helps with belly fat [and goodness knows I need some help with that...PLUS everything Dr. Oz says is right...right?!]
[Sip #1]
So. I'm going to go ahead and say it: I have a TERRIBLE month ahead of me at work for the month of August. I'm dreading it sooooo much. I have over $4000 worth of cancels coming out of my book of business. If you're in sales I know you feel my pain ... if you're not in sales you probably can imagine my pain. I'll have to work my ass off the next few weeks to try to overcome these downs. I'm so upset. I'm hoping I can save some of this business but otherwise a miracle will have to happen.
How's work going for you? Any bad news? or better yet - any GOOD news?
[Sip #2]
I've been totally unmotivated to work out. I haven't been to the gym to work out. And I know I should go because it helps me feel good and would probably help with the motivation factor ... but ugh. I can't. I just want to sit on the couch and will myself skinny. That works right? Power of thought and all?
Help motivate me - what workouts have you been doing?
[Sip #3]
I have been checking my email like a freak every five minutes waiting on getting a response from my lender. I wish everything was done instantly so I wouldn't be obsessing/worrying/waiting. I'm sure everything will be okay and I'll get the response I want ... but still. I hate having to wait on an answer.
What are you currently obsessing over right now?
[Sip #4]
I so want to talk work drama right now. There's so much going on (aside from my $4k loss) but I won't. I could go on and on and on about it and I wouldn't want to bore you. Just know: I'm itching to spill the beans.
What juicy gossip are you holding tight to? O C'mon. You can tell me. I won't tell!
[Sip #5]
One last sip before I go ... I need to do some major purging of clothes and mail and magazines and all the crap that's taking up space that I never look at. I did get one box together that I need to go and have shred but  I'm not looking forward to tackling my closet. I'm going to do that thing where you put all the hangers backwards and when you wear something you turn it the correct way and at the end of the year all the hangers that are still backwards you get rid of.  Have you heard of this before? Have you tried it?
Ok that's all. Go. Get out of here. Get to work.

30 Things: #12 A Typical Day

#12. Describe a typical day in your current life.
A typical day...hmm. Ready to be bored?!
7:04am - wake up, check my email (work and personal), fart around on my phone for a little bit either on social media, bloglovin' or Farmville.
7:15-8:15am - getting myself together, gathering my laptop, tablet, coffee, water, snacks - etc.
8:30am - 5:30pm: My work hours. Most days I'm in my car and I'm somewhere in the DC Metro area (I can be anywhere from Rockville, MD to Capitol Hill, DC to Woodbridge, VA). I usually plan my whole week the Friday prior and plan about 8-15 stops [stops = clients and prospects that I service, upsell or try to sell]. Between stops I'm checking email, texting, checking my Farmville, Social Media, eating in the car, having 2-5 bathroom breaks at whatever fast food place or library I can find, making phone calls, talking gossip to my co-workers. You know - typical work day stuff.
Sometimes I get home earlier than 5:30 (shhhh don't tell on me). If that's the case then I get on my laptop and finish up any admin work that I've been putting off and/or am behind on (any sales people reading this familiar with SalesForce? The BigBrother of sales. Every thing we do has to be entered into the system (every stop, every one we talked to, who we plan on talking to etc).
5:30pm - Bedtime: This is when the real fun happens. JK. Typically I get home and I'll read or crochet or listen to my audiobook and then when Troy gets home from work we'll watch a Netflix (right now we're catching up on Breaking Bad) or a Redbox and have dinner or snacks.
And I'll spend more time with my Farmville or on Candy Crush or Instagram or Pinterest.  Then right before bed we watch TMZ and DishNation (gotta hear my gossip before I go to bed)! Then I'm out cold!
That's it. Pretty Boring right?

5 Days, 6 Hours and 31 minutes

5 Days, 6 Hours and 31 minutes...Does that seem like a lot of time to you? That's how much time I've spent listening to audiobooks since February 2013.

Since I spent about 5-8 hours a day in my car working - audiobooks have been a great break in the day.

Today I'm here to share some of my favorites from my audio library that i recommend you grabbing your earbuds and giving them a go!

My current listen:
I'm not sure how it's going to end (which usually dictates if I like the book or not) but so far - so good!

My top 3 favorites:

I just loved the story and the way the Narrator read it. The combo of the two just made me enjoy every minute if this read.

I never saw the movie so the story was new to me. The story had me on edge wanting to know more & more. Some parts even had my heart racing!

I love books with alternating character chapters. I love this audiobook b/c they had two great narrators literally give the two main characters their own voices.

My #1 dislike:
I couldn't get into it. It put me to sleep (which isn't good since I listen whole driving). Disappointing b/c I read so many good things about this one.

Are you an audiobook listener? What's your favorite audiobook?

The House I Put An Offer On...

My first ever offer on a house went in on this one:

Cute 2 bedroom (2 master suites)/3.5 bathrooms, 3 levels end unit in Frederick Co.

First time I signed a contract, wrote an escrow check and crossed fingers on getting my deal accepted.

Good News: My offer was accepted! Woot! Settlement date set for July 31st. Mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness (I wanted to jump for joy, throw up and poop myself all at the same time).

Living room:

Master suite #1 & #2

My favorite part of house (deck & view):

Looks great right? Plus it's located near lots of shopping including a wegmans.

Then the home inspection happened (insert gloomy music) and long story short: every single window was broken, plus some electrical issues plus some plumbing issues plus some other minor issues.  Which add those things up and they = $$$.

"Ain't nobody got time for that." After listening to my dad (yep 31 years old and still turning to dear ol' dad for advice) and making some demands on what the owner should fix and credit to me ... the deal fell thru (on my end). The owner offered to fix a couple things but not the windows which would cost a buttload and I as a first time homebuyer can't afford.

So yea. That's the story. And altho I was slightly disappointed something better has popped up on my radar which has me SUPER excited. More on that later.

Would you have bought this home if you were in my shoes? Have you ever been in a situation like this?

My Stressor: Looking for a new home

Hola folks!

So, I haven't talked about this on the blog but I have been stressed out of my mind looking for a new home!

OMG why has no one ever told me how stressful this is?!?! I've been looking since March for a nice two bedroom, two bathroom condo (or townhome) in Montgomery County or Frederick County and I have to tell you it's been let down after let down.

I think my main problem is my budget vs my taste (probably a lot of people's problem) and some of the houses I've seen that are in my budget makes ne want to stay an apartmenter renter forever.

What I want:

What I can afford:

This homebuying journey has been something else - and has given me plenty of stories to tell:

Story #1: Condo in MoCo - on paper it looked great: spacious 2BR/2BA with sunroom. In reality: We walk in and the home owner was sitting on the couch with her shoes off on her laptop trying to tell us how awesome her place is (and it was not awesome...she hadn't even cleaned it or straighten up the place).

Story #2: 2 level townhouse in MoCo: Great curbside appeal. Great location. Problem: we couldn't get in the door. We had the key - could hear the door unlock but still door wouldn't open. We finally figured door must've been deadbolted from the inside. Right when we were giving up and walking away a young girl in hoodie and pajama pants (and some bags) opened the door and walked out. It was so stranged. I assume she was squatting there since there was no furniture and a few blankets stuffed inthe closet (let's not bring up how the kitchen was in the basement level and the green, pink, and yellow walls).

Story #3: Fully renovated - very nice 3 level townhome in Frederick Co. Great in everyway - except for the old man who likely was/is a member of a white supremacist group. No lie. We high tailed it out of that area (let me not forget to mention that this house had THE FATEST groundhog I've ever seen just chilling in the backyard AND that the house two doors down had burn marks on it from recent fire).

Story #4: The house I put an offer in on .... I'll tell you about that one later.

What has your homebuying journey been like? Easy and fun? Or Sad and stressful (and sometimes funny) like mine?

Neighbor Gift: Crochet Swirly Coasters

Good Day Folks!
After the feedback from everyone on THIS post - I decided to go with making my neighbors some cute swirly coasters.

I think they'll love them.
What do you think?
