Teaser Tuesday ::: The Fault In Our Stars

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme,

“Without pain, how could we know joy?' This is an old argument in the field of thinking about suffering and its stupidity and lack of sophistication could be plumbed for centuries but suffice it to say that the existence of broccoli does not, in any way, affect the taste of chocolate.”

Will you {have you} read this one?
Will you go see the movie version when it comes out?

READING: Ophan Train - Yay? or Nay? I say....

...YAY!

Looking for something good to read {or listen to}?

I have something right up your ally:

Read a tease HERE.

What it's all about {via Amazon}:

Penobscot Indian Molly Ayer is close to “aging out” out of the foster care system. A community service position helping an elderly woman clean out her home is the only thing keeping Molly out of juvie and worse...
As she helps Vivian sort through her possessions and memories, Molly learns that she and Vivian aren’t as different as they seem to be. A young Irish immigrant orphaned in New York City, Vivian was put on a train to the Midwest with hundreds of other children whose destinies would be determined by luck and chance.
Molly discovers that she has the power to help Vivian find answers to mysteries that have haunted her for her entire life – answers that will ultimately free them both.
Rich in detail and epic in scope, Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline is a powerful novel of upheaval and resilience, of unexpected friendship, and of the secrets we carry that keep us from finding out who we are.

What I liked:

- The alternating voices/time periods
-The way Molly's life and Vivian's life seem to go together and the way their friendship develops into a way that helps each other
-The story of Orphan Trains in general is new to me. Sadly I didn't know this was a real thing.
-The ending ... although I wanted more!
-Although it annoyed me at first: on the audiobook the narrator reads with an Irish accent. Took me time getting use to but after a few hours I started to like it.

What I disliked:
-The Irish accent (at first)
The story could've dove deeper into certain situations for both characters but if you're just looking for a good/easy read - than this one is for you!

4 stars!

READING: Allegiant - Yay or Nay? I say ...

...NAY!

Read a tease HERE.

What it's all about {via GoodReads}:

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

What I liked:

-Um. Still trying to figure it out.

What I disliked:

-Normally I LOVE alternating chapter perspectives. In this book - it didn't make sense - ESP since the other two books weren't like that
-I didn't like the direction the story went
-Book 2 & 3 of this series totally take away from the awesomeness of book 1. It's so sad to me. I was super excited for this series and now feel completely let down.
-The Ending.
-Tris' voice and decisions and Four's voice period.

I think I could go on with dislikes but I'll limit it to just five.

Did you read this? Please tell me I'm not the only one who hated it.

Moody Monday - Crochet Mood Blanket {Blocks 32-46}

I really like Debi's title "Moody Monday" so I hope she doesn't mind me copying her!

I'm FINALLY caught up on my crochet mood blanket (except for today's block ofcourse)! Woohoo!
Ready to have a quick glimpse into my first 15 days of February 2014?

Block #32: Ambitious - tons of laundry to do that day and I had of goal of washing, drying, folding and putting it all away. Plus I added a heart to make the first day of the month.

#33: Peaceful
#34: Happy/Excited - First day of 4 day work trip to Norfolk
#35: Confident/smart
#36: Confident/accomplished - awards ceremony and my team won for being the most revenue wise over budget
#37: Down - home sick
#38: Happy - got to meet baby Camden
#39: Happy - Jenn's Bridal shower & my mom's bday celebration
#40: Peaceful - lazy day w Troy & Olympics

#41: Angry - my manager told me I was flat (energy wise) at his meeting and he didn't like that. Pisses me off even now. He gave me the talk (again) how everyone feeds off the energy and blah. My thoughts: I'm not a manager. It's not my job to hype up and energize the team. Oh I could go on but I feel my blood boiling.
#42: Accomplished
#43: Loved - recieved Jenn's card. Felt really good all the lovely things she wrote to me.
#44: Creative
#45: Loved
#46: Loved: overflow from previous day

Blanket is so large it's hard to get a good shot!

How's your blanket coming along?

Five on Friday

Hi Folks & Happy Friday!

[one]
Snow! OMG. Snow. If you follow me on Instagram then you saw this picture yesterday:
Holy Snow Batman!!
Thank goodness for Troy because he got out there and unburied my car THEN he went past my mom's house and helped her out which is super nice/sweet.  Also I'm HAPPY to have a job where they actually close when weather is a mess. My last job we would have to be in the office no matter what. BUT according to my boss yesterday was not a "snow day " it was a "go day". Ha!
[two]
Isn't this picture just absolutely gorgeous? OH MY GOSH it melts my heart. This is a picture of my friend's friend baby. She special ordered this hat for the baby months ago and it's so nice to get this picture back in return. The eyes on this baby - lovely!

 [three]
Speaking of babies. I went to see my friend Kim's new baby (he is soo cute!) and I went to deliver her this Green and Navy Blanket for him and when I got there she showed me the whole that appeared in her first babies blanket (I made this star blankie about 3 years ago). I managed to patch it up. It's not perfect but I think it'll do. I tried to find some tutorials on how to fix a blanket but nothing was helpful so I had to wing it.

 [four]
I love this. It's a little special touch I added to my buddy Jenn's wedding shower gift. It's a framed picture of me with a crochet heart on the back. JK. I mean that would make an AWESOME gift tho.

 [five]

Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope yours is filled with chocolates, flowers, love and/or what ever tickles your fancy!

Crochet Flower Hot Pad - Which one looks better?

Good Day!  Are you home having a snow day?  I wish I could sit around and crochet all day but...I can't. I'm suppose to be having a "GO" day...not a "SNOW" day. Yea. I know.

But before I tackle my workload today I wanted to share with you my Crochet Flower Hot pads and get your opinion.

Which one looks better?
(or can you even tell the difference)

Attempt Number 1:
When I finished this one I felt like it didn't look as good as the other ones I've seen online.

So I tried again and added more rounds:
Attempt #2

This second one is going to be a gift for someone. I hope they like it!
I'm thinking I'll keep number one for myself and maybe make a couple to sell at a craft show this spring/summer.

What do you think? Which one looks better? Attempt#1 (the purple and white) or Attempt #2 (yellow, pink, red)?

Teaser Tuesday ::: Orphan Train

I'm listening to another  {so far} great book on Audible this month:

“I learned long ago that loss is not only probable but inevitable. I know what it means to lose everything, to let go of one life and find another. And now I feel, with a strange, deep certainty, that it must be my lot in life to be taught that lesson over and over again.”

How's that tease sound to you?
Will you be adding this to your TBR pile?
