30 Day Crochet Challenge: Day27 - Favorite Crochet Book

Day27 - Favorite Crochet Book

I literally only have 5 crochet books. I get most of my patterns online.

But if I had to pick one out of the five this would be my winner:

looks like it's been thru some major ish with me doesn't it?

It's still my go-to for when I need ideas.

30 Day Crochet Challenge: Day23 - How Long Hooking and Day24 -Favorite Stitch

Day 23 - How Long Have You Been Hooking:

Oh. I don't know! Over 5 years now I think. I wish I kept better track but I remember I started hooking a couple years after college. I remember sitting on the couch with one of those self-teaching books and trying to figure things out.

Day 23 - Favorite Stitch:

This is my favorite Stitch:

LOL - get it? Hint: His name is Stitch!
He was named after Lilo & Stitch - and that was waaay before I started hooking.

Otherwise a regular Double Crochet is my go-to.

30 Day Crochet Challenge: Day22 - Brown

Day 22 - BROWN

Here is yet another color I do not use unless someone requests it.
I don't even WEAR brown.

I did make one thing in brown (per request of course):

This was when I was Hookin Hats like crazy.

I think this is the ONLY time I've used brown. Oh I take that back - I did make a brown beard for a friend's son. I'll have to find that picture to share with you - it was AWE-SOME.

30 Day Crochet Challange: Day20 & Day21- Favorite & Least Favorite Item Made

Day 20: Favorite Item Ever Made:

I think one of my favorite things made are my Elise Shawls.
I love the yarn I use and I love the pattern (and of course I love that it keeps me so warm).

Day21: Least Favorite Item Ever Made:

hmm...I don't know. I can tell you though: if I'm making something and I don't like it I usually just frog it and move onto something else. I always debate if I like something or not and if I find myself dwelling on it too much I don't put the effort in to finish it - does that make sense?

Monday Morning Coffee {Virtual Coffee}

Gooood Morning Ladies!

How was your weekend?
Are you in the mood for some Monday Morning (afternoon/evening - whenever) coffee?
{via etsy}
[sip one] - work:
So I'm still plugging away and I'm still in the negative. I did manage to sell one of the thingys we're having a contest on - which means my name gets entered into the drawing to win the trip to Cancun next year. Wouldn't it be amazing if I won with just one minor entry? Like Primrose got her name drawn out of the thousands of other names. She won. Sorta. Right? How's work going for you?

[sip two] - where to start:
So. I need to get my stuff together and start packing. My lease ended in August and now that I'm month to month with my apartment community and they jacked my rent up an additional $360 per month. I plan on moving before the end of the year - but I feel like I should start doing something with my stuff. Where do I start? I did go through some of my clothing and have about 3 trash bags worth of clothes to donate.  Where should I start? Or should I just wait until a couple weeks before I actually move instead of stressing so far in advance?

[sip three] - me likey:
Do you ever go on Houzz? I really like that site. It's such an escape for me to read the posts and look at all the pretty-pretty pictures. My go-to search is "small spaces". I need ideas on what to do with my teeny tiny space (I think my apartment now is less than 600 square feet).  What website/app do you use to escape your normal thoughts?

[sip four] - pinterest:
This stuff made me giggle (and outright laugh):

[sip five] - confession:
Last week I ate fruit loops with marshmallows for breakfast every day (well...except Friday...only because I ran out. Had to go with an cinnamon raisin english muffin instead...it was a sad day).
I have to confess - this cereal is SO good. Should I feel guily? I feel like I should...but at least I was having breakfast. Right? What's your AM guilty pleasure?

What's going on in your world?  Have a sip or two with me and leave me a comment below (or link me back to your blog so I can read and sip along with you).

30 Day Crochet Challenge: Day18 - Current Wips

Day 18 - Current WIPS

Well - not much has changed since Day3 when I shared with you my current WIPS (except I DID finish my pinks&white ripple blanket - check out the pics HERE).

And I've since completed two shawls (pics HERE & HERE).

Since I just shared these projects with you a couple weeks ago and not much has changed - I'm going to share with you how my projects live when I'm NOT working on them.

WIP ONE - Tunisian Crochet Blanket:
yes. it's all balled up beside my bed waiting to be worked on ... next to a suitcase that I have yet to put away in storage.

I was motivated to add more rounds to this blanket. I think I got about 3 rounds in the last two weeks.

It's at the point where it's taking almost one whole skein to finish one round - and it's not near where I want it to be in size yet. With it being $5.49 per skein I imagine this is going to end up costing me a pretty penny (it adds up quickly!). But it'll be worth it I think.

WIP TWO - Purples Hexagon Blanket:
at least this one is semi-folded and stored in a box in my living room.

I still haven't ordered the yarn I need to complete this (or to even join these hexagons) but I did pick up my hook and I'm starting to just stock pile the hexis. That way when I do order the yarn I need I can start joining again.

WIP THREE - Crochet Mood Blanket:
I keep this one jammed into a plastic container - which I opened up to give you a shot of. the calendar is usually present on my coffee table.

Uh. Yeah. I haven't even looked at this in weeks - I have at least been updating my calendar with my moods everyday. Which counts for something...right?

What blanket should I concentrate on and finish first? Last time everyone suggested the ripples and I did!

:)

30 Day Crochet Challenge: Day14 - Last Gift Made

Day 14 - Last Gift Made:

The last gift I made was for my friend Stephanie's baby shower:
don't ask me why she's so blurry. I had only one glass of wine...maybe two...possibly three at this time. More pictures here

I'm debating if I want to make handmade gifts this year.
I don't feel like they are always appreciated - so - I may not waste my time (and effort) this year.

What do you think? Handmade holiday this year - or no?

Teaser Tuesday & Audiobook Review ::: Dark Places

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.

"I am, I guess, depressed. I guess I've been depressed for about twenty-four years. I can feel a better version of me somewhere in there - hidden behind a liver or attached to a bit of spleen within my stunted, childish body - a Libby that's telling me to get up, do something, grow up, move on. But the meanness usually wins. "

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

***
MY THOUGHTS:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well. When I started this book the first minute into it I thought "I'm not going to like this" next thing I know I'm 2 hours into and didn't want to stop.

I got sucked in immediately into the story and I could not put it down until I got to the end.

This is a MUST audiobook (if you're into that kind of thing). The chapters alternate between 3 main characters (Libby, Patty and Ben) and if you know me - you know by now that I'm a BIG fan of this. I also love when the audiobook has multiple narrators for each main character. Love Love Love.

Like I said - I was pulled in almost immediately. I found myself carrying my tablet around my apartment so I didn't have to stop listening while I cooked, showered, brushed my teeth - etc. I had to know what happened to each character and more about the "kill club".

I don't want to give away anymore than that. The story is a journey that I recommend you go on! I am THISCLOSE to saying I liked this BETTER than Gone Girl. Bam. Yup. I said it.

Have you read this? Will you read this now after my suggestion?
~Trish

Monday Morning Coffee

Good Morning (Afternoon or Evening or Whenever you choose to read this)!
How about some Monday Morning Virtual Coffee?
Go get your cuppa joe. I'll wait.
{via}
[sip one] - CONFESSION:
My team earned a free day off last week (which was AWESOME. I only have 2 hours of vacation left until February 2015 so any free time off I can get...I'll take!). So I had a loooong wonderful weekend. My confession is I spent about 50 of the 72 hours in bed. Seriously. I wasn't sick or anything. I just literally laid in bed. I did leave the house to get food and I did make a trip to get groceries but that's all. Are you judging me? Is that terrible?
[sip two] - PROGRESS:
While in bed I did manage to make some progress on this beauty:

I started this last year and it's suppose to be for Troy (hence the colors - Kappa red) and he requested a blanket with "no holes" (aka no granny squares for him!). Then I said this is our "room blanket". I always change this from being "his" blanket to "our" blanket. LOL. I am determine to finish this blanket. He also asked that it be extra king size - it'll probably take me another year to finish. Do you take forever to finish certain projects? And do you go between making something for someone and then wanting to keep it for yourself - or am I just selfish?

[sip three] - FINISHED:
I finished the audiobook of Dark Places this weekend. OMG - it was really good. I'll do a teaser and review tomorrow - so come back to read what I think about it (besides it being good).
What are you currently reading? Is it good?

[sip four] - OhStitch!
After texting with Marie about something we saw on livingsocial she suggested that I see if "OhStitch" was an available handle for my business - so I checked twitter - and it was (I also snagged the name on instagram but I'm not sure if I'm going to use that yet...)!
So I have a new handle for all my crochet related tweets. Please follow me HERE if you're on twitter. I'm up to 8 whole followers! Are you a twitter user? Leave me your handle and I'll follow you!

[sip five] - Work:
I have NO sales on the board for November. I've finally managed to have a positive month in October (after 3-4 months of being in the negative prior to that) and now it looks like I'll be back in the negative. I had a really great start to the year and now it looks like my 4th quarter is going to be a disastrous. ugh. How are things going for you at work?
How's your coffee?
What's going on in your world?

30 Day Crochet Challenge: Day14 - Blue

Day 14 - BLUUUE.

So. I JUST realized. I use a lot of freaking blue in my projects:

This was a baby shower gift. Mama & Papa requested (and picked out) these blues. More Pics Here.
All of these booties either are blue or have blue. More Pics Here.
Again. More blue. Navy Blue this time. More Pics Here.
More Pics Here. I still love how well this turned out
More Pics Here. Avail in Etsy Shop HERE.
Love this but will NEVER do magic ring starts again. More Pics Here.
And the list goes on and on.

It's funny because blue isn't a color I'd pic for myself but I guess when I make stuff for other people blue is my go to!

Which is your favorite blue?
