Book Review: Silver Shadows

Hello There!

I have finished book 5 of the Bloodlines series and I'm still loving it!

Goodreads Synopsis:
Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

So by now (at book 5) I'm obviously connected to (and rooting for) Adrian and Syndey.
Heck I've been rooting for Adrian since he was first introduced in the Vampire Academy series. In this installment of Bloodlines you are pulled in emotionally to the torment that both of these main characters are suffering. With the alternating POV chapters the author gives you a really good look into each character's minds/thoughts/emotions - and you feel for them.

Both of these characters have grown so much since the Vampire Academy series and that's why I love watching the progression of their development in these books.

At times the story gets a little too mushy for me (but then again this is a YA novel and they all get a little mushy) but it's cute. I imagine if I was a teenage girl I'd just melt with all the romantic, lovely dovely thoughts and feelings ... but I'm old and cynical so I just mostly skim over that.

I'm very excited to read book six to find out what's going to happen next!

If you enjoy YA books then I recommend this series.
You won't be disappointed!

Are you a fan of this series?

Does the cover of this just BOTHER you like it does me?

  1. Ha! That cover IS pretty cheesy! I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but there's no way on earth I'd pick up that book based on that cover. Then again, it is book #5, so if you're that far into the series, maybe the cover doesn't need to appeal to the unconverted?

  2. This one does sound heavy on the romance. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm not familiar with the Vampire Academy series or this one, yet. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Yeah the cover bother me a bit.
By the way great review-- i love reading about this
